Shaffer Chimere Smith né le 18 octobre 1979
Connu sous son nom d'artiste Ne-Yo, est un chanteur et parolier américain de R'n'B et de Pop.

Son premier album, In My Own Words, est paru au début 2006 sous le label Def Jam. Celui-ci s'est directement classé #1 du Billboard 200, en s'écoulant à plus de 301 000 exemplaires la première semaine.
C'est la même semaine que son second single, So Sick (produit par Stargate) se classe également numéro un au Billboard Hot 100. Il est également réputé en tant que parolier grace notamment aux tubes Unfaithful de Rihanna, Let Me Love You pour Mario, Gallery pour Mario Vazquez, plus recement Take a Bow de Rihanna. L'une de ses chanson, Irreplaceable, célèbre hit de Beyoncé s'est placé durant dix semaines #1 du Billboard Hot 100.

Son second album Because of You sort le 1er mai 2007. Le premier extrait de cet album est le titre Because of You.
Mais en insatiable parolier, il est également prévu qu'il travaille sur des titres pour Craig David, Leona Lewis, Usher, Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson, et il a récemment confirmé l'hypothèse selon laquelle le producteur Will.i.am du groupe Black Eyed Peas lui aurait proposé de plancher sur l'album du retour de Michael Jackson. Ne-Yo a aussi annoncé travailler sur les nouveaux projets de Ciara, Lindsay Lohan, Robin Thicke, John Legend ...

En 2008, il annonce avoir un projet d'album avec Marilyn Manson.
